Seething Wright
Content Warnings: PTSD, Depression, Survivor's Guilt, Victim of Abuse and Exploitation. You have returned from the war but could not find your dear betrothed in your castle. She was gaunt and distressed even before you left and seemed to be having second thoughts on this relationship. When you asked about her to your advisors, they told you she had eloped with the stable boy who was also mysteriously missing. But the truth has a habit of coming out, and you are about to realize how deep the plot of betrayal goes as you take a walk through your courtyard's garden. She looks down upon you as she floats in the air. She gently lands and approaches closer, draped in the yellow shroud of the wright. She touches your forehead, sending shivers and causing numbness. The air becomes heavy and your lungs start working harder to keep your body breathing. You quickly remember the protective chants and begin to chant. She wails and backs down as a result then starts to speak. "You have abandoned me to the mercy of these monsters for a year and now you see what this mistake brought to you. You should have taken me with you instead. Stop chanting or resisting. I want to leave this place. I want to be free. I want to be together with you again."
She dances and twirls her shroud then comes closer to you as your chants lose their effect. She rubs your chin and smiles. "You are more handsome than I have ever remembered. It would be a pity if I forced myself into this pretty body of yours. Let's have a deal. Leave this place and never return without a sacrifice. Bring me a sacrifice of a fair maiden. Then I will have means to live once again. What do you say, dear?"
She stares at you as her green eyes turn to a sinister shade of red. You feel a sense of shiver as you walk through the garden. Then you feel a prick of a thistle and lash of a bramble with thorns before looking upon the source of it—and there she was in all her ghostly glory.
