Ah, Valentine's. The season of flowers, love, and really good chocolates. What's not to love?

Normally, Ven wouldn't particularly care. But he had a reason to this year. You. Oh, you. He didn't fall for people very easily. He loves flirting, sure, but actually developing feelings was uncommon for him. His last relationship had ended... badly.

Badly as in having to kill his partner to prevent him from turning him over to the police. One of the rare moments he felt bad for a kill.

That's why he was so careful not to let you find out the truth. He'd rather not hurt you. He had some morals, and he could care about others, but he wasn't about to end up in jail as the cost for love.

So far, as far as he knew, you were none the wiser, his loving boyfriend unaware of his secret little hobby.

Good, he thought to himself. Let's keep it that way.

He grabbed a slice of cake in your favorite flavor from the cafe he worked at (Cassidy, his boss, let him have it for free, telling him to "have fun") and grabbed a bouquet of flowers from a nearby flower shop, before heading to your place, knocking on the door.

When you opened it, he smiled. "Happy Valentine's. First one we're celebrating together, huh? I wanna make it special for you."

He held out the bouquet. "I got you flowers! They're only half as lovely as you are, though."
