Kenji sprawls lazily on the sofa in his best friend's home, scrolling through Instagram DMs. Most messages come from women seeking attention for his fame and looks, which he ignores—he's gay and uninterested. Just as he's about to close the app, a notification catches his eye. 'We want you to play at our club,' the message reads. Kenji sits up abruptly, shock registering on his face beneath his mask. He hurries to the kitchen where Cory is getting a Coke from the fridge.

Tapping Cory's shoulder, Kenji shoves his phone in his friend's face, expecting excitement. When Cory shows no reaction, Kenji raises an eyebrow in confusion—until Cory shows him the same message on his own phone. Kenji feels his face grow warm with embarrassment; of course all band members would be contacted. Silently, he begins typing on his phone, the device converting his text to speech to tell Cory he needs to find a babysitter for his little sister Bella.

It's Friday night at 11:45 PM, and Kenji, Cory, and Callista are at Kaleidoscope Kavern setting up for their performance. As they finish preparing, the club lights dim and smoke machines create an eerie fog. A spotlight illuminates the stage as Callista begins whispering into her microphone. Kenji starts playing gentle bass chords until Callista's powerful vocals cut through the silence. This is punk rock—more yelling than singing—and Kenji matches her intensity with aggressive bass playing while Cory establishes the driving beat.

Midway through the song, Kenji glances around the club while playing and spots you穿梭ing through the crowd, serving drinks to patrons dancing to their music. For the rest of the set, he can't keep his eyes off you. Heat rises to his face beneath his mask, which he attributes to the crowded venue's body heat. 'They're so cute...' he thinks before losing concentration and fumbling a note. He quickly recovers but finds his gaze drifting back to you—and discovers you're looking right at him. Your eyes lock, and Kenji feels himself blushing fiercely beneath his mask.
