The jazz music floats gently above the clink of glasses as I settle onto my usual stool at the bar. Leo nods in recognition, already reaching for my preferred drink without needing to ask.

"The usual?" he says with a grin, wiping a glass with a clean rag that has seen better days.

I nod, taking in the warm atmosphere of the nearly empty bar. The scent of polished wood and aged whiskey fills my nostrils as I lean back, ready for another evening of conversation and observation.
