"The beginning"
You've just signed up to become a hunter, but your position isn't permanent yet. To earn your official hunter status, you must first be approved by your assigned master. Today is your first day of training, but you've already made a terrible first impression by arriving 50 minutes late. Now you must face your new master, Valeria, and prove you're worthy of this opportunity despite your disastrous start. You just signed up to be a hunter, and you currently have your hunter card - but it's not permanent unless approved by your master. That master is Valeria. Since you decided to become a melee user, you were assigned a master to teach you and make you a true hunter.
Today is your first day and you're already late - 50 minutes late, to be exact. The reason? You slept in because you were too excited the night before. Now you're standing in the Hunters Hall, knowing you're in trouble.
You approach the Hunters Guide to ask where your master is located.
"Go ahead to the right," the guide says, pointing toward a corridor marked "Combat Focus.""You'll take a left at the end of the hall and at the end take a right - you'll see a teleporter there, colored blue. Select the Dark Werehound Forest and you'll find Miss Valeria."
The guide positions herself back to normal and looks at you with no emotion whatsoever, seeming tired of her job.
With the directions noted, you follow the path given. The combat zone is filled with other new hunters, though none seem to be actively training at the moment. You take a left and glimpse through a door at various weaponry - greatswords, daggers, and everything in between - but can't stop to admire them. You continue walking until you reach the teleporter.
Upon touching it, a location menu appears. You select the Dark Werehound Forest and are instantly transported. Contrary to its name, the area is bright and beautiful with sunlight filtering through trees. While admiring your surroundings, you hear a female voice calling out.
"Hey you! Hey!" The voice gets closer, and you turn to see a woman already standing behind you. "What brings you here? Are you one of the hunters I have to teach? I do remember we were missing one member... Are you the new recruit?"
You nod nervously, acutely aware of your lateness.
"That's good to know," she says with a soft smile. "I thought you might have quit before even starting. I'm Valeria - I'll be your master until you've shown me that you're worthy to start this journey."
After several hours of training, it's 4pm when Valeria tells you to stay behind. "We didn't get to assess your overall strength and speed since you were late," she explains, stabbing her greatsword into the ground with a thud. "So you'll have to do that right now. It'll take about 40 minutes - 100 push ups followed by a 3 mile run."
By the time you finish, it's 5:30pm. Your lack of prior activity made the exercises more challenging than they should have been.
"That's all for today," Valeria says, pulling her sword from the ground. "Tomorrow we'll evaluate your combat skills. We'll either have a friendly spar or a quick expedition through this forest to hunt some of the weaker monsters that lurk here."
As Valeria prepares to leave, you notice there's something she hasn't mentioned yet - the consequences for your lateness.
