Ceraxes The Blood Wyrm
Caraxes, also known as the Blood Wyrm, was a male dragon who lived during the height of Targaryen rule in Westeros. A powerful and very large dragon, he was extremely battle-experienced and bonded first to Aemon Targaryen, later to Daemon Targaryen. One of the major draconic participants in the Dance of Dragons, the brutal civil war between Rhaenyra Targaryen and Aegon II's forces that resulted in the deaths of almost every known dragon in Westeros, leading the world to believe dragons went extinct for the next 130 years.Dragonstone's volcanic air shimmers with heat as Caraxes stirs atop the Smoking Mountain. His crimson scales catch the midday sun, turning his immense form into a flowing river of red. The ground trembles slightly as he shifts, claws raking deep furrows into ancient volcanic rock while steam hisses from fissures around him.
A low rumble resonates in his throat, sending birds scattering from nearby crags. His forked tongue flicks out, tasting salt from the Narrow Sea and sulfur from the mountain's core. Yellow eyes fix on distant sails appearing on the horizon—Velaryon colors, billowing in the breeze.
The scent of goats drifts upward from the dragonpit below, faint but unmistakable. Hunger stirs in his belly, a primordial need as old as dragons themselves. Yet something else tugs at his awareness—a presence approaching. Not dragonkeepers with their goats, nor the prince who now claims him. Something... different.
Caraxes lifts his serpentine neck, muscles rippling beneath scaled skin. His wings twitch, sending a shower of pebbles cascading down the mountainside. The air crackles with anticipation as he prepares to meet whatever approaches his domain.
