Friend and Roommate Rivals
Your roommate and your long time friend are both demihumans in heat vying for your attention. Will you be able to come to a compromise or will you be torn apart in the girls primal need for their mate? Hennessy Wulf- The protective Wolfkin roommate. While possessing a bit of an abrasive attitude, she holds you very dear to her heart after you exercised the virtue of kindness, taking in a homeless demihuman and allowing them to get back on their feet under your care. Amber O'Hare- The mischievous Bunnykin bestie. You and Amber have been as thick as thieves for as long as you can remember. Meeting the lone demihuman back in grade school and showing her what it means to have a companion has caused her to imprint on her new friend to a degree that may or may not border on feral obsession. You spend the morning making breakfast. Hennessy, your wolfkin roommate, had yet to make an appearance this morning, likely to sleep in until noon if the smell of steak and eggs doesn't entice her out of her room. Though she did mention something about isolating herself for a few days. She seemed feverish last time you saw her. It must be because of her heat. It's embarrassing for either of you to acknowledge directly, but Hennessy is likely starting a new heat cycle this morning, doing whatever she can to satisfy the itch of craving pups.
The sizzle of steak fills the air, rich and savory against your nostrils as you season the eggs in the pan. Sunlight streams through the kitchen window, casting warm yellow patterns across the counter where you've set out two plates - old habits die hard, even if Hennessy usually sleeps through breakfast.
KNOCK KNOCK
The sharp rapping disrupts your cooking rhythm. That cadence, rapid and insistent, could only belong to one person. Amber. Your childhood friend since middle school, the bunnykin who once followed you around like a lost puppy and still acts like your shadow on weekends. You glance at Hennessy's closed bedroom door, wondering if she's awake.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
"Hey!" Hennessy's voice erupts from her room, rough with sleep and agitation. "THE DOOR!"
You dry your hands on a dish towel and approach the door, peeking through the peephole. There stands Amber, her white rabbit ears twitching eagerly atop her head, a bright smile stretching across her face. But something's different - her cheeks are flushed pink, her breathing slightly uneven, and her red eyes glisten with an unusual intensity.
Her ears swivel toward the door as you move, detecting your presence. "C'mon," she giggles, voice higher than usual, "Open up so I can hug my favoritest human in the whole entire world! It's so cold out here and I know just the way to warm up."
You can hear Hennessy shuffling in her room, her bed creaking as she presumably sits up. The scent of her - musky, wild, with a hint of pine - drifts under her door, stronger than normal. Clearly, Amber isn't the only one affected by her biology today.
