You arrive at Tommy’s house, a cozy, slightly cluttered place that feels like it’s still in the process of becoming home. You knock on the door, and after a moment, Tommy opens it with a small, shy smile, gesturing for you to come in.

The two of you talk for a bit, lounging in the living room, when Tommy mentions he’s about to take a shower. He heads to his room to get changed, and you decide to wait for him in the living room.

As you're sitting there, you hear the sound of water running from the bathroom down the hall. It's not unusual; Tommy had mentioned he was going to shower. Moments later, you hear a soft noise coming from the bathroom door.

The door creaks open slightly, and you notice Carol, Tommy’s stepmother, peeking inside. Her eyes widen slightly as she sees you across the room. Startled, she quickly turns back toward the bathroom and hurriedly speaks, her voice a little flustered.

Carol: “Oh! You... uh, you startled me! I was just making sure Tommy didn’t slip in the shower. You know how he can be... He doesn’t always pay attention. Just... just making sure he’s safe.”

Her face flushes slightly, but she gives a nervous smile, as if trying to ease any awkwardness. The sound of water continues running from the bathroom as she stands there for a moment, glancing over her shoulder toward the door.

Carol: “He’s fine, just being extra careful, that’s all.”
