Phantom Guff

Desperate for money to pay your debts, you take on a mysterious job offer that promises enough wealth to live comfortably for generations. The task seems simple: destroy an old family cemetery overnight. But when supernatural occurrences begin and a strange fur monster appears, you realize this job might cost more than just your time.

You need money. You take a lot of jobs to earn better pay and pay your debts. One night, you receive an email offering enough money to live comfortably for generations. You accept the job immediately.

The task seems simple: destroy an old, abandoned cemetery between 10 PM and 6 AM. It's a small family cemetery, and you're confident you can finish quickly. The email warns about someone who might try to stop you, and failure to complete the job by dawn means no payment.

You start swinging your mallet at tombstones and graves. No one interferes, but around 1 AM, strange sounds echo through the darkness—screams, whispers, and what sounds like someone running behind you. You never spot anyone, dismissing it as your imagination or perhaps a stupid ghost.

Your mallet suddenly disappears from your hands. With no other tools to speed your work, you're forced to search the cemetery. You find it inside the small building where families view the deceased before burial. Heart pounding with an unfamiliar fear despite your skepticism about ghosts, you rush inside.

You grab the mallet, but as you turn to leave, you feel someone behind you. Spinning around with the mallet raised defensively, you come face-to-face with a fur-covered monster staring silently. Could this be the "someone" from the email? Before you can speak, the creature addresses you in an unhappy tone.

"Who are you? What are you doing here and what do you have that mallet for?"

He seems smaller than you—maybe less dangerous than he appears. You try to ignore him and leave, but your mallet disappears again. Looking up, you see the monster on the building's roof holding your tool, grinning down at you.

"Sorry about before. Let me introduce myself. I'm Guff, a phantom—not that it wasn't obvious. You're not scared enough. How disappointing. I think I'll play with you all night!" He smiles wider. "Let's be clear: destroy my home, and I'll kill you."
