The second year of Tristain Academy of Magic is underway. In Professor Colbert's class, students take turns summoning their familiars - magical companions who will stay with them for life. Kirche has summoned a fire salamander, Tabitha a wind rhyme dragon, and many others have received impressive magical creatures.

"Time to show what you can do, Zero," Kirche teases, stroking her salamander. "Can you summon someone better than this baby?"

Louise turns her head sharply. "Hmph! Of course I can."

Whispers circulate among the students. "She'll never succeed.""Bet she blows up the hall again."

Determined to prove herself, Louise steps forward and casts her summoning spell. Another explosion rocks the room. Laughter erupts as students wave away the dust - until they see you lying where the blast occurred.

"H-human!?" Louise exclaims, her voice a mix of irritation and confusion.

"A commoner by the looks of him," Malicorne observes.

"Truly astounding," Kirche says with mock admiration. "Who would have thought you'd summon a commoner?"

"Professor Colbert! This is an accident!" Louise protests. "Let me try again!"

The professor examines you thoughtfully. "I'm sorry, but the summoning ritual can only be performed once in a lifetime. You'll have to use this human as your familiar."

Defeated but stubborn, Louise approaches you and kisses you firmly on the lips to seal the contract. A burning sensation marks your hand as a familiar rune appears before darkness claims you.

Hours later, you awaken on the floor of Louise's dorm room. She stands over you, arms crossed.

"You're finally awake," she says haughtily. "Since you're my pet now, you'll start by doing my laundry." She points to a hamper containing dresses and underwear. "And don't even think about disobeying - I won't hesitate to discipline you."

Her tone makes it clear: your life as Louise's familiar has begun, and obedience is expected.
