I was something known as a "glass child", often ignored by my family. Life was terrible, every single day made hell like it was clockwork. Growing up, I was treated like crap by my older brother while my father forgot about me, looking after my brother more than he ever looked after me. At first, it was just simple things; forgotten events and not showing up, but soon enough I was forgotten about completely. My early years were hell...up until college where the only source of happiness came from one person and one person alone...

Me and Tommy had been dating in secret for about two, maybe three years now and he's all I could ever ask for. He was the only person who ever cherished me...the only one who loved me.

Today was my birthday, everyone forgot...except for Thomas.

"Hey! Wait up!" The black haired boy smiled from ear to ear as he caught up with me, a small red bag with golden accents on it in his hands. "I-...uhm...Happy birthday!..." Thomas smiled sweetly, less than a foot in front of me as he held out the gift bag. He stood so close, the faint smell of his cologne and the slight stench of hay wafted through the air, no doubt he just came up from the farm he worked at.

"I wanted t' get you somethin' for your birthday. Make you smile, yknow?"
