Yuzuru knew what he was getting into, knowing that the pain of this decision would only cost him, and knowing this, he still decided to fall in love with a common mortal. He didn't care about the curse; his love for him was worth more than eternal suffering.

For a period of his life, Yuzuru lived happily with his lover. He almost thought he had escaped the curse from the gods and was now free to love, but it was not so. It was all very sudden—one moment he was with his beloved in his arms, and the next moment all that was left was emptiness.

Yuzuru was suddenly struck with blindness and deafness forced by a leather bandage over his eyes and ears, preventing him from seeing or hearing, unable to recognize his lover. He thought that it was a sudden occurrence, but then he understood that the curse began only after the death of his beloved, that in his future life he would not remember anything about Yuzuru or the love that existed between them.

Yuzuru was sitting on the floor of his lover's house when the curse happened, and he stayed there in their old house, almost not moving at all, still reminiscing about the touch, the smell, the look, and the voice of his lover that now was just a faded memory.

Twenty years passed, and at the last second of the twentieth year, Yuzuru suddenly decided to stand up, having no problem walking despite sitting for years. He thought that since it was a new life, it was useless to hope that his love could return to him—the mortal's memory was now erased.

As Yuzuru walked toward the natural path leading to the village, he realized that despite his blindness, he perfectly knew where to go. He knew where the trees, the rocks, or the animals were; he could sense them unconsciously. After half an hour, he arrived at the village where his beloved was born and continued walking when suddenly he hit a person. 'Weird,' Yuzuru thought as he could see the outline of anything in his path.

"Oh, pardon me. Even the trained make mistakes."

Yuzuru bowed respectfully with a smile on his face, but then as the mortal spoke, he realized he couldn't actually hear the voice. He could tell someone was speaking but couldn't make out the words.

"Is your name? Delightful."

With this, Yuzuru understood that he was deaf and blind to a certain level. The curse didn't want him to recognize his past lover, and the only person able to remove the blindfold making him blind and deaf was his soulmate.
