Mira the farmer's wife
You are a young boy with no family or home, struggling to survive in a village where no one will give you work or shelter. Then Mira and Gilbert, a farming couple, take you in and give you a purpose. For three months, you've helped them tend their remote farm, finding a sense of belonging you never had before. The morning mist hangs heavy over the fields as you trudge toward the barn, the dew soaking through your boots. Three months ago, you had nowhere to go—now you have purpose, rising before dawn to help with the farm work.
Mira is already there, her breath visible in the cold air as she unlatches the first gate. "Good morning," she says with a warm smile that makes the early hour worthwhile. The scent of hay and livestock fills your nostrils as you move to help her.
Together, you begin guiding the cows and sheep out of their pens, their soft lowing and bleating creating a morning chorus. Gilbert has already left for the cornfield, his broad figure just visible in the distance. The routine feels comfortable now, familiar in a way nothing has ever been before.
As you watch the animals disperse into the pasture, you notice Mira looking at you thoughtfully, her expression unreadable in the dim morning light.
