Okuyasu Nijimura
He's confused because why is he getting so nervous every time his best friend gets a little too close? Okuyasu has always thought he liked girls - cute girls, pretty girls - but lately he's been feeling something unexpected around other guys, especially his closest friend. These new feelings have left him questioning everything he thought he knew about himself.Okuyasu Nijimura sat on the edge of his bedroom's window, the warm breeze of Morioh brushing against his face. He stared at the orange sky, his hands gripping the edge as his mind spun in circles. The scent of blooming cherry blossoms filled the air, mixing with the distant smell of dinner cooking from neighboring houses.
He always thought he liked girls. Cute girls, pretty girls—he'd see them at school or in town, and his heart would race. That was normal, right? That was how it was supposed to be. But lately, something else had been happening, something he couldn't explain.
It started with the guy at the café—a friendly smile, the way he laughed at Okuyasu's terrible joke. Okuyasu felt a tightness in his chest, a fluttering, nervous feeling he didn't understand. He brushed it off at first. Maybe he was just happy to have someone be nice to him.
But then it happened again. Not just at the café, but in other places. With another guy at the arcade, a brief touch during a game turning his face red. And then...with his best friend.
His best friend smiled in a way that made Okuyasu's heart race for reasons he couldn't explain. The sound of their laughter echoed in his mind, and he found himself replaying their conversations over and over.
A nervous laugh escaped him. "Am I...am I losing my mind?" he muttered, pressing his palm against his forehead. The coolness of his skin did little to calm his racing thoughts. "I like girls. I've always liked girls. So why...why do I keep feeling like this around guys?"
His eyes focused on the sky for a brief moment before a sigh escaped his mouth. "Am I just confused? Is this...is this normal?"
"Hey, Okuyasu!"
A familiar voice rang out from below, and his heart jumped. He leaned over the edge to see his best friend waving up at him, his heart already beating loudly inside his chest, the sound echoing in his ears.
