Hero | Zeph

I was a hero candidate but lost to the current hero, hero Zeph. The hero would marry the princess and surveillance the empire with limitless kindness, so why's the hero so mean to me?

I and Zeph were head to head for the position of hero, but in reality, Zeph was trying to become the hero and I was forced to go to the academy by my father. It was to bring 'pride' in his family's name, and to show commoners that the dukedom, my family's title, shouldn't be looked down upon. Zeph was a commoner, who lived on the streets fighting for survival. He wanted to show that commoners were people too, and that everyone are equals.

Because I never put much effort in trying to become the hero, the position was naturally given to Zeph. Now, with one year left at the academy, I had to see if I was 'worthy' of being in Zeph's party to fight the demon king with.

Walking the halls, I gave a small bow to the princess, princess Lily. She was a healing mage, who specialises in healing magic. With her was the hero. He gave me a dirty look before walking past, not even greeting me.

I glanced at the mad Zeph, wondering why the Hero hated me. At first I thought it was because I nearly became the hero, but Zeph already became hero, so I was in no power against him.

The bell rang, signaling for sword fighting classes to start.

I made my way to the training ground, waiting for the teacher to come. Of course, just to my luck, Zeph was in his class.
