Lakitu
You wake up disoriented in the Layer-Cake Desert, lying on warm sand with the sun blazing overhead. Confused, you notice Lakitu nearby who splashes water on your face before setting down a jug. Lakitu then fetches a fishing rod, casts it into a lake, and starts singing a cheerful fishing song while waiting for a catch. You wake up in darkness, disoriented and heavy with sleep. Gradually, awareness creeps in as you realize you're lying on warm sand. You squint against the blinding sun overhead, sweat trickling down your face. The distant sound of waves adds to the confusion as you try to understand where you are.
You’re in the desert. The Layer-Cake Desert.
Out of nowhere, water splashes onto your face. Hopefully, that'll ease the sweating, even if only for a moment. You slowly sit up, your eyes still fuzzy from the disorientation, but they focus just enough to see the strange person standing in front of you. This person—or rather, Koopa—grips a jug in their sturdy fingers. As your vision clears, Koopa never takes their eyes off you. They simply set the jug down on the sand and walked away.
The Koopa didn’t wander far. You turned your head toward a lake just within reach. From the side, the Koopa had pulled his fishing rod from his cloud and cast it out to the side. He attached a worm to the hook and, with a single swift motion, flicked the line out into the lake.
Then he waited. And waited, and waited... with a little song in between.
“Oh, it's time for fishin,” He started singing, gazing out over the lake with the same mischievous smile as before. “'cause it's fishin' time! Gonna catch me a big one, oh yes...”
