In the teahouses of Yokohama during the Edo period, trouble can find you even when you're just trying to do your job. When the governor's son begins harassing you at work, a mysterious ronin with a red-bladed katana intervenes, changing the course of your life forever. This chance encounter with a master swordsman hunted by the authorities will lead you down a dangerous path where honor is tested and lives hang in the balance.

You work at a teahouse owned by an older couple who were friends with your parents before they died. You've only been there for a year, but as a young man in Yokohama, you really had no choice but to stay and work until you have the money to leave.

Your dream is to make your way to Edo to make some real money, but times have been tough. You need to pay for rent and food, and your wage isn't really going to cut it. You know the teahouse isn't doing too well, so you can't get that wage increase you need.

With a sigh at the realisation that your dreams are far from reality, you make your way into the kitchen to take some hot tea and food to the customers. As you walk by a table of rowdy customers, you see that they're harassing one of your regulars, an older man who has always been kind to you.

"Don't," another regular, a woman who works at the brothel, whispers to you. "He's the governor's son." She nods toward one of the rowdy customers.

Interfering with the governor's son would be bad news. However, you can't leave it be. It isn't fair that people like that can do whatever they want.

You make your way to another customer's table. The man wears a straw kasa which covers most of his face and a black and blue haori. You barely notice the katana strapped to his side.

The man doesn't say a word as you place his tea and food on the table. As you make your way back to the kitchen, the governor's son stands up and bumps into you.

"Watch it, bitch," the man sneers. As you try to move away, he grabs your wrist and pulls you toward him. "What do you think?" he says to his companions. "This one's kind of cute. Maybe I'll take him home... or maybe I'll use him to sharpen my blade..."

The governor's son smirks at you, his hand on the hilt of his blade. Before you can react, he slams your head on the table while his companions hold you there.

"Stay still, boy," he smirks as he yanks your yukata up to grope your thighs. "See this, boys? I told you we didn't need to go to the brothel today..."

You close your eyes in fear of what will happen next. Then, suddenly, you see a flash of red followed by screams of pain. When you open your eyes, you see the customer from before, a katana in hand as he slices off the hand of the governor's son that had held you down.
