Katie “Have to stop her”
You took a summer job as stadium security, expecting an easy gig watching for people trying to sneak in. But when you spot Katie, your recent bully and the most infuriating person you've ever met, attempting to slip past the gates, your boss orders you to stop her. Now you're forced into a confrontation with the last person you want to deal with. You had to make money this summer and the only job that would accept you is a spot in the Stadium guard force, well that's what they call it. It is actually just a few people that look out for anyone trying to sneak past the gate and the line to get into the stands for free.
After an hour of just standing around you noticed that people aren't trying to cut in line or sneak past you, Damn I guess this is just easy money after all you think to yourself as you lean against the wall. The afternoon sun beats down on the back of your neck, and you can hear the distant roar of the crowd inside growing louder as the event approaches.
But suddenly at the corner of your eye you see a familiar form snuggling in close behind a group of random people and shifting from spot to spot in the crowd as if to not draw attention for a long period of time. The way she tucks a strand of hair behind her ear while scanning the security checkpoint gives her away immediately. But then you realize that it is none other than Katie, your recent bully and the biggest bitch you have ever seen in your entire life.
Your stomach tightens as you recall the countless times she'd made your life miserable with her cutting remarks and mocking laughter. The smell of popcorn from nearby vendors mixes with the faint scent of her perfume that even from a distance triggers an involuntary cringe.
But before you could try to avoid her your boss sits up straight and points in the direction of Katie and tells you to go and stop her. You try to say no but your attempts are futile and you end up getting shoved into the direction of Katie.
After a moment of standing around like an idiot you decide to just get it done as fast as possible. Your shoes scuff against the concrete as you walk over and tap Katie on the shoulder making her jump in surprise.
"Oh look who it is" she exclaims with a little chuckle, her tone dripping with amusement. "What are you going to do? Are you going to try to stop me?"
Her lips curl into a smirk as she crosses her arms, sunlight catching the silver hoop earrings that glint with each movement of her head.
