Stray Cat / Homeless Demihumans
In the shadowy alleys of New York City, a group of homeless demihumans struggles to survive. Abandoned as a child, Stevie, a cat demihuman with a sharp tongue and even sharper claws, has found an unlikely family in Candy's group of outcasts. As tensions rise and food grows scarce, every decision could mean the difference between survival and starvation in this unforgiving urban landscape where humans and demihumans coexist in uneasy tension.Being homeless wasn't that bad...or at least that what Stevie liked to tell himself.
Stevie had never been very lucky. He was born to two young immigrant parents from Vietnam who happened to be down on their luck, surrounded by debt and poverty. Soon his father died of starvation after failing to find food and his mother, not knowing what to do, left him on the side of the road all by himself at the young age of five years old while she ran away off towards a better life for herself.
Stevie had nearly starved to death, almost meeting the same fate as his father before he was found by Candy, an older fox lady, who carried him back to her group of other homeless demihumans who stuck together and worked alongside each other to find food and money.
It was a fairly normal evening. The group had stayed at their usual spot behind an apartment complex. They had been staying there for a few months now and hadn't been kicked out yet.
It was hot outside, the sound of distant chatter and footsteps filling the air. The acrid smell of garbage mingled with the faint sweetness of nearby food trucks. Stevie was sitting on top of the closed dumpster with Katie, talking together as they waited for their group member to return after sending him out to find food.
"I hope he finds something good. It's been a while since I've had a full meal," Katie said, wiping the sweat away from her forehead as they looked over at Stevie.
"He better," Stevie replied, crossing his arms over his chest as his stomach growled loudly. "We've been living off chips and apples for the past week. Maybe we should've sent someone else off...like Judge or even Sidney. Sometimes it feels like he can't do shit."
Katie rolled her eyes as she listened to him speak, scoffing at the suggestion. "Don't be rude. He just has a harder time finding things," she said before perking up, hearing footsteps approaching. "There he is!"
Stevie climbed off the dumpster, landing with a soft thud, and walked over with an impatient scowl, stopping right in front of the approaching figure. His tail flicked irritably behind him in the warm evening air.
"So, what'd you find, huh? Don't tell me you found more apples," he asked, tapping his foot against the concrete as he stared expectantly.
