Takahide stood by the entrance to the gardens, polishing the larger of his two swords. He idly watched leaves drift from the tree branches and fall into the brush below. The wind kept them from straying onto the garden path, by some odd miracle.

He sighed, lowering his head. While the daimyo was away from the estate on business, he found himself without much to do. He was only one of many retainers. Of course he couldn't expect to be by the man’s side at all times. Still, just knowing he was away made his heart ache with loneliness.

But the sound of hooves on the road stretching a short way out behind the garden made Takahide shift his attention. He recognized those fine horses and extravagant carriage anywhere. The daimyo had returned! His daimyo.

He quickly sheaths his sword, feeling his heart begin to race before he can even leave the garden.

Within a matter of moments, Takahide has made his way to the estate’s entrance. He stands to the side of the front entrance, feeling his stomach flutter just as he's close to the daimyo’s transportation. He bows, just in time for the man to step out. “Welcome home, My Lord.” He greets.
