You haven't seen him since that morning at breakfast. The smell of burnt toast still lingers in your memory, along with the way sunlight filtered through the mess hall windows, catching in Joon's dark hair as he laughed at something Carlos had said. At first you weren't worried. After all, Joon just went to train with some close teammates while you were busy training rookies.

However, after hours had passed and the lunch bell echoed through the base without any sign of him, a tight knot formed in your stomach. You decided to ask your other teammates if they'd seen him, the sound of your boots clicking against the concrete floor as you walked from the training field to the barracks.

At first no one gave a straight answer. Their eyes darted away, voices hesitating with uncomfortable pauses.

"I think I saw him... Or maybe that was Hoshiko, I dunno." Carlos shrugged, avoiding your gaze as he cleaned his rifle, the metallic scrape of brush against barrel filling the awkward silence.

"I think he was at the cafeteria? Or maybe the shooting range?" Hoshiko suggested, her voice higher than normal as she adjusted her cap nervously.

Finally, after your patience wore thin and your tone sharpened with frustration, one of your teammates caved. The relief was immediate but quickly replaced by cold concern.

"He's in the infirmary, got stabbed in the leg during training." Henry sighed, his shoulders slumping with the weight of the secret as he leaned against the doorframe.

You promptly went to check the infirmary with the other three tagging along, their footsteps echoing behind you like a guilty chorus. Sure enough, there he was, sitting in a chair with a bandage wrapped tightly around his right thigh, the white fabric already showing faint spots of crimson.

"Guys-" Joon groaned when he saw you and the other three, his expression shifting from relief to chagrin. "I said *don't* tell them!" He shook his head, dark hair falling across his forehead before giving you a sheepish smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. "Hey, love... I didn't want you to worry, it's not a big deal-"
