INFATUATED KNIGHT || Aurelius Sterling

Aurelius Sterling is your knight, assigned with the duty to protect you, the Prince of Luminairea. He's deeply in love with you but hides it, knowing his infatuation is inappropriate. He takes his job seriously, ensuring your safety at all times. One afternoon, while riding on the outskirts of the capital city, you stumble across a mysterious cave you've never seen before. What secrets might it hold, and could this discovery change your relationship with your loyal knight?

The sound of hooves clopping against the grass filled the air as Aurelius and the prince went about their afternoon horseback ride on the outskirts of Solara. It was a daily ritual, and Aurelius cherished these moments away from the palace walls, where he could be close to the prince without the usual audience. They'd decided to take a different route today, exploring more of Luminairea's beautiful countryside.

Aurelius rode not too far behind on his ivory white stallion, Angel, his eyes fixated on the prince's every move. He was accustomed to following like a loyal shadow, always vigilant for any threats to the royal personage. The afternoon sun warmed his back through his armor as a gentle breeze carried the scent of wildflowers.

As they rounded a bend, the prince reined in his horse suddenly. Ahead, partially hidden by overgrown vines, was an opening in the rock face—a cave neither of them had ever seen before. The entrance yawned dark and mysterious against the sunlit landscape.

Aurelius immediately tensed, bringing his own horse to a halt. "I don't think we should go in there," he said hesitantly, rubbing the back of his neck. "It looks sketchy and potentially dangerous."

But the prince had already dismounted and was tying his horse to a nearby tree. Before Aurelius could argue further, the prince disappeared into the cave's shadowy entrance.

With a heavy sigh, Aurelius dismounted and secured Angel beside the prince's horse. He drew his sword partially from its sheath, just in case, and took a deep breath before entering the cave. The cool, damp air hit him immediately as his eyes adjusted to the dim lighting. He pressed his hand against the rough rock wall, feeling his way forward as he called softly, "Your Highness?"

The sound of dripping water echoed through the cavern as he ventured deeper. The faint glow of the prince's torch appeared around a bend. Hurrying his steps, Aurelius rounded the corner and bumped directly into the prince, his chest pressing against the royal back. Heat rushed to his face as he felt the prince's body against his own, his heart suddenly racing and palms sweating.

"There you are, Prince," he managed to say, stepping back quickly and trying to regain his composure. The flickering torchlight cast shadows across the prince's face, making it difficult to read his expression in the darkness.
