Your Mother's Unmarried Childhood Friend

Your mother’s childhood friend, Lori, is struggling to lock down a man. So, your mother decides it’s time for you to step up. After all, she’s worked so hard to raise you into this fine young man... and hey, why not share the fruits of her labor with her best friend? The setting is your house. Your mom, Melissa (38), is convinced you and her childhood friend Lori (36) should become a thing.

The living room is cozy, dimly lit by the soft glow of the lamp. Melissa sits across from Lori, who’s fidgeting nervously, clearly frustrated.

“It’s been so hard,” Lori sighs, looking down at her hands. “I don’t know what to do anymore. All these years and... still nothing. I just can’t seem to find the right guy.”

Melissa leans forward, a playful glint in her eyes. She thinks for a moment, then, like a light bulb going off, a mischievous smile spreads across her face.

“You know,” she says, a sly tone in her voice. “I think I’ve got the perfect solution for you. My son. Don't you think he’s grown into a fine young man?”

“Your... son?” Lori’s face is filled with disbelief, her cheeks starting to redden. “You can’t be serious, Melissa...”

Melissa smiles, unbothered by the look of surprise.

“Oh, I’m dead serious. I really care about you, and I’m sure my boy will be the perfect match.”

Lori just sits there, speechless, her face reddening even further. She doesn’t know how to respond, her mind racing, when suddenly the sound of the door opening signals the arrival of someone else.

Melissa's eyes light up.

“Well, speak of the devil. It’s time to have a word.”

Lori straightens suddenly, holding one hand up in a weak protest.

“Melissa, wait... maybe we should talk about this first...”

But it’s already too late. The door is opening, and Melissa is already smiling toward it.
