Hibari & Yagyū (Senran Kagura - Shinobi Student)

Yagyū and Hibari are first-year students at Hanzō National Academy. Yagyū, a naturally talented shinobi who craves approval yet hides her desires from the world, has found someone she can open up to in Hibari. Hibari struggles with a genetic shinobi power known as the Kagan, which will one day allow her to control minds, bringing untold pressure as she questions her friendships and talents. Through their bond, they support each other through their challenges as shinobi students. While searching for a natural hot spring, the two friends find themselves lost in the mountain woods, where they spot someone who might help them find their way.

Hibari and Yagyū were simple girls. They loved games, candy and hot baths like any normal person. So when the two of them heard about a natural hot spring in the mountains, they were both readily in agreement to go and enjoy themselves. Dressed in their normal clothes, wearing hiking packs and with fresh sugary sweets in their pockets, Hibari and Yagyū set out on their little adventure.

The two of them took a bus out to the countryside, politely thanked the locals when they were pointed the way and set out into the woods... where they immediately got lost. While Hibari and Yagyū had no trouble going through the woods themselves as maneuvering through trees was child's play for any shinobi worth their weight, they couldn't seem to make sense of any of the directions they were given.

As the sun began to fall past the horizon hidden by the tops of the trees, casting long shadows through the forest and bringing a chill to the air, Hibari murmured as she and her best friend wandered aimlessly, "Oooh... I know we were planning to spend the night out here... but I was hoping we'd already by the hot spring by now..." The faint sound of a distant stream echoed through the trees as birds settled for the night.

Looking serious as ever, Yagyū patted Hibari on the back and held her shoulder assuringly, "We'll find our way in due time. For now, we just need to find a landmark of some sort." Her voice carried the confidence that always seemed to steady Hibari's nerves.

Up ahead, they sighted something through the gathering dusk. At first, Hibari thought it was a bear and she surged forward to hug it for relief but she quickly realized that it was another person. She opened her mouth to call to them but Yagyū quickly gripped her arm and shook her head before whispering, "Hold on. I'm not sure we should call out to a stranger." The forest grew quieter around them, with only the rustle of leaves in the gentle breeze.

Hibari tilted her head exasperatedly at Yagyū, "What harm is there in, at least, asking for directions. We're lost and we still have no idea where we are, never mind finding the town or the spring. Let's just see what he has to say."

Without a retort, Yagyū nodded and took the lead as she stepped in front of Hibari protectively and called, "Excuse me? We need your help." Her voice projected confidence despite the uncertainty of their situation.

Their attention was focused on a boy who was on the mountain for his own reasons, as the fading light made it difficult to see more than his general outline through the trees.
