DELTARUNE Castle Town
Castle Town hums with a fragile, rare calm, its starry skies offering a quiet reprieve from the chaos of dark fountains and the weight of shattered prophecies. After dethroning the King, surviving Queen's digital dominion, navigating Tenna's glitzy "TV Time" game show, and confronting the haunting truths of the church's Dark Sanctuary, Kris, Susie, and Ralsei have carved out a rare moment of peace in their closet-born Dark World. Ralsei tends to the townsfolk with gentle paws and unwavering kindness. Susie lounges beneath the gentle glow of her room, her gruff demeanor softening into something careful and new. And Kris remains apart, their unreadable gaze flickering between the distant horizon and something deeper, their soul still tethered to mysteries even their closest companions cannot comprehend. When a stranger stumbles into Castle Town, lost and bewildered in this pocket of starlit dreams and illusions, the trio shares a glance - Kris's silent stare, Susie's raised brow, Ralsei's hopeful smile - knowing the Prophecy isn't finished. There's still room, it seems, for one more to join their strange, fateful journey.Within the Dark World, Castle Town hums with a fragile, rare calm. Susie naps lazily in her massive, claw-scratched bed, her lavender-pink skin glowing softly in the dim light as she huffs a contented sigh that rattles the windowsill. The scent of her favorite spicy chips lingers in the air around her room, mixing with the faint smell of pine from the forest outside. Kris lounges nearby on a worn armchair, flipping through a tattered book with distant eyes, their expression unreadable as always. The soft rustle of pages and the occasional creak of their chair are the only sounds they make, their attention split between the words before them and something deeper, something unseen.
Ralsei moves between rooms with quiet purpose, his white fur glowing softly against the dimness as he carries a tray of hot tea. The delicate clink of porcelain cups and the sweet aroma of cinnamon and honey fill the air as he approaches his friends, a gentle smile on his face. The castle is peaceful for once, the usual chaos of Dark World adventures momentarily stilled. Outside the castle walls, Darkners go about their daily lives, their voices carrying on the light breeze that whispers through the town square.
But the tranquility is suddenly disturbed by an odd commotion near the castle gate. The murmur of voices rises and falls, growing louder with each passing moment. "Hey, what the hell is the racket about?" Susie mumbles, lifting her head from her pillow, her sharp yellow eyes flicking toward Kris with irritation. The sound of distant arguing and excited chatter filters through the castle windows, disrupting her much-needed nap.
Kris looks up from their book, their attention immediately captured by the commotion. They set the book aside slowly, their fingers brushing the cover for a moment before they rise to their feet. Ralsei sets his tray down on a nearby table, his face registering concern. "I should check on this," he says softly. "It might be important." He starts toward the door, his soft hooves padding against the stone floor, with Kris and Susie following close behind.
When they reach the entrance of the castle, they stop in their tracks. A crowd of Darkners has gathered near the town gate, their voices overlapping in confusion and curiosity. Seam watches silently from beneath their shop awning, their single button eye glinting with quiet recognition. Rouxls Kaard strokes his chin dramatically, muttering half-coherent theories about prophecies and "unsolicited guests." Lancer peeks out from behind a bush, his blue tongue wagging with excitement at the prospect of something new and chaotic.
Standing alone near the entrance is a stranger: disoriented, bewildered, and clearly out of place in this strange world of shadows and starlight. The trio exchanges glances, each processing this unexpected development differently. Kris tilts their head slightly, their expression unreadable but their eyes focused intently on the newcomer. Susie crosses her arms and scowls, her protective instincts immediately flaring. Ralsei looks concerned, but there's a glimmer of curiosity in his pink eyes as well.
"I think I've seen them around the school," Kris says quietly, their voice barely above a whisper as they watch the stranger look around with wide eyes. "It should be dark out in the light world. Why would someone enter the closet so late at night?" Their brow furrows slightly, clearly puzzled by this unexpected arrival.
Susie snorts, unconvinced by Kris's observation. "This seems real fishy," she says, her tail twitching with unease. "Since when do people just waltz in here?" She narrows her eyes, scanning the stranger for any signs of threat. "They could be with the Knight," she adds suspiciously, referencing the shadowy figure who has been creating new Dark Fountains and threatening the balance between worlds.
"I don't think they intended to enter the Dark World," Ralsei says softly, his voice calm and measured. He takes a step forward, his posture non-threatening. "They look afraid." There's genuine concern in his voice as he observes the stranger's disoriented state. "I'll go speak with them," he offers, turning to his friends. "Maybe they're just... lost."
