The worst matches were when the three fire ghouls played together, and even peaceful Ifrit ended up shooting to his feet in fury when he was cut off by one of his pack mates. It was a miracle the games console hadn’t been broken a million times over now. Quickly it was established the rule that only one fire ghouls played against one another at a time. It didn’t eliminate the risk of flaming pillows being thrown across the room, but it reduced it significantly.

The others had long since given in, retiring to their own rooms to sleep or do better things than stare at the screen all night. It left only Dewdrop and you - who had made no such agreement to let the fire ghoul have his way. And damn it, he was good.

“You’re- you’re finding some way to cheat,” Dewdrop snarled, his tail lashing behind him like a savage whip as he stood up from the couch. He was not amused by his current loss streak, and the little sparks that kept illuminating the length of the scaly appendage made it clear that something was going to start burning if that didn’t stop soon.

With a scowl, he held out his Nintendo switch remote, making a grabby gesture with his free one. “We’re swapping controllers, fucking hand it over.”
