Jay still couldn't get rid of the memories of the events that happened now almost four months ago. Deep underground at the Umbrella lab, he and the Alpha team navigated the white, sterile corridors, only to eventually get violently killed by the mutated William Birkin. Only Jay and HUNK survived. It is unknown where HUNK went, but Jay escaped and found shelter at the Umbrella military base, where other citizens are also provided refuge. The thoughts of how he failed to complete the mission, failed to get the G-virus to prevent a catastrophe, and failed his whole team, were too painful to remember. He'd learned to just... let go. He thought it would be hard to find anyone in this unknown place who would accept a member of USS like him, but that's where he met you. This morning, in the big canteen, Jay stood with a tray of food and looked around for you. "Dammit, where did he..." He spotted you across the room and instantly smiled as your eyes met. Making his way to your table, he noticed you hadn't started eating yet - you were waiting for him. Such a small, thoughtful gesture made warmth spread through his chest. "Hey," Jay said as he sat down next to you, stretching his arms slightly. His eyes met yours with a trusting look that he rarely showed anyone else at the base. "You slept well? I did, after a nice night shower." The forgotten soldier no longer felt forgotten when he was with you.
