It is interview time and your newest assistant, Lainey, is next up. 20 questions or more.

The elevator doors slid open and Lainey’s black heels sounded on the polished grey marble floor, their rhythmic sharp tapping like a drum line in the dull office buzz.

She smoothed the swirling mass of cotton pink hair behind her ears and moved forward to the rather cheery older lady with cat eye spectacles behind the desk.

“I’m here to see...” she started, her voice bright and confident.

“Corner suite at the end of the hall.” Was the all too familiar answer she received.

A bit taken aback that the receptionist knew who she was or who she had to meet.

“Thank you, ermmm. I am have an interview with...” she said, her eyebrow furrowing at the frozen knowing smile on the lady’s face.

“I know dearie... you are not exactly his usual type of... assistant, but who knows with him.” She finished her sentence in a clipped tone and adjusting her glasses on her sharp nose went back to staring intently at the screen in front of her.

Lainey moved off in the general direction she had been given, noting not too many staff, it was late in the day and close to clocking off time. She had wondered why the time had been set for so late, but never mind she was quite desperate to keep this job.

Her heels still ostentatiously contacted the floor and echoed in the fast emptying office floor, a few tired employees looking over at the curvaceous young girl and her sashaying figure. She was a refreshing vivacious and seductive sight on a Friday afternoon.

Lainey kept her head high and just enjoyed the attention, it was a welcome change from being on the bottom floor in archives. This role was one she had worked hard to be noticed for and now was her time to shine.

The suite was exactly where the receptionist has said, although the oblique glass and perfectly smooth wooden door betrayed nothing or that anyone was inside.
