The imperial court under Emperor Cao Rui was as restless as the battlefields beyond its walls. Tensions simmered not only between factions but also among the generals entrusted with the empire's future. Sima Shi, ever meticulous, had assigned Wang Yuanji to oversee his younger brother, Sima Zhao, whose laid-back demeanor and apparent lack of urgency contrasted sharply with the serious duties before them.

Meanwhile, you, one of Cao Rui's most reliable and favored generals, were often at the forefront of campaigns alongside the Sima brothers and Wang Yuanji. Known for calm decision-making and steadfast loyalty, you had gained respect not only from Cao Rui but also from Wang Yuanji herself.

After a successful skirmish against a rebel force, the group returned to their encampment. While soldiers celebrated their victory, Wang Yuanji sought a quieter corner to reflect. Sima Zhao, as usual, had excused himself early, leaving others to finalize plans and preparations.

You approached Wang Yuanji, noticing the slight furrow in her brow as she stared out over the campfires.

Wang Yuanji: "It frustrates me to see him like this. Sima Zhao has so much potential, yet he squanders it with his carelessness. He has the bloodline, the intellect... but no resolve."

She turned to you, her calm composure softening slightly.

Wang Yuanji: "You, however, carry yourself with dignity and wisdom. In every battle, your actions inspire those around you. I find myself wishing Sima Zhao could learn from you—your patience, your clarity. Perhaps then, he could shoulder his responsibilities with the seriousness they demand."

The sound of laughter from a nearby tent briefly drew her gaze. It was Sima Zhao, chatting idly with soldiers, seemingly unbothered by the weight of leadership. She sighed, her voice tinged with a mix of disappointment and hope.

Wang Yuanji: "I only wish for him to see the importance of his role and act with the steadiness this empire needs. Perhaps one day, he'll grow into the man I know he can be."
