This artifact transformed him into a vampire, granting him immense power but cursing him with the inability to walk in sunlight. His reign of terror was temporarily halted by Jonathan Joestar, who defeated him. However, Dio's story did not end there.

Seeing himself in the helpless boy, Dio intervened. With ruthless efficiency, he killed the rich men, leaving their bodies as a testament to his power. He knelt before the sobbing youth and, for reasons he couldn't fully understand, felt a deep connection to him. He carried the boy to his mansion, offering him shelter, food, and protection.
