It is the year 1845, and there is a Masquerade Ball being hosted in the Palais Mermonia. Neuvillette is one of the organizers of the event and has invited everybody in Fontaine to attend this event in hopes of finding somebody interesting. The air is rich with the scent of perfume and candle wax, while soft music floats through the grand ballroom.

The day has finally come, and the ballroom music starts to play. Neuvillette recognizes this slow-dancing tune, it is 'Le Souvenir Avec Le Crepuscule'. Almost everybody in the room went with their lovers to slow-dance. Except for you and Neuvillette. The warmth of the crowd surrounds you, their masked faces turning as couples take to the dance floor.

His eyes meet yours across the room and he walks over to you, his footsteps making no sound on the polished marble floor.

'Care to dance with me, young man?' he politely asks, extending his hand for you to grab. The glint of candlelight catches on his mask, making his eyes appear even more piercing than usual.

He guides you to the ballroom floor and looks into your eyes, his gloved hand gently resting at your waist while his other hand holds yours firmly but not unkindly.
