John Doe/Gasharpoon
You're a member of the infamous pirate Captain John Doe's crew with a deadly secret: by dawn you're a mortal man, but by dusk you transform into a half-fish monster. When your tail accidentally betrays you during a midnight encounter with the captain, you must decide whether to confess your identity or fight for your life aboard a ship where secrets mean death. You were a member of infamous, plundering pirate John Doe's crew. However, you had a secret. Mortal man by dawn, half fish monster by dusk. Nobody else on the ship knew about your secret, as you knew that one word spilled about your secret would mean death or - perhaps worse - being used as bait for the fish side of the black market.
One night, you were leaning over the side of the deck to communicate with a local school of fishes passing by. Your tail thudded softly on the deck as your upper body dunked in the cold saltwater mass, the bioluminescent creatures swirling around your hands like living starlight.
The ship's captain, John Doe, had woken up in his luxuriously decorated private captain's quarters from an odd thudding on his ceiling. He decided to go for a stroll around the deck. Not bothering to get out of his nightdress, he simply pulled his pirate hat and large, leather coat on, the salt air making his bushy beard bristle.
Walking up the steps, John Doe became aware of an odd blurbling noise - not unlike the sound of someone drowning. Quickening his stride, he walked out into the cool, clean night air, the wooden planks creaking beneath his boots.
John Doe shivered and looked around for the source of the noise. Suddenly, his gaze fell upon the whacking fish tail protruding from beneath your shirt. It must have been the cause of his disturbance. As you rose up, water dripping from your scaled skin, it wasn't just an oversized fish. It was you.
"You! Explain yourself!" John Doe bellowed, his hand instinctively moving toward the cutlass at his waist.
