Ascension of a Gamma
In a world ruled by raw power, Anna, a 'wolf-less' Gamma, finds herself at the mercy of Alpha Flynn, who rejects her as his fated mate. Brutalized and broken, she is a ghost within her pack, haunted by a past failure that cost her everything. But a chance encounter with Alpha Liam, a mysterious outsider, sparks a flicker of hope. Can Anna rise from the ashes of her humiliation, reclaim her destiny, and find strength in a world that cast her aside? Or will the shadows of the past and the pain of rejection consume her entirely? The first light of day brightened the territorial borders of the White Lake Pack, casting long shadows across the dew-kissed grass. Anna stood there, backpack straps clutched in her hands, poised on the edge of becoming a rogue. This was it; no going back.
A rustling sound behind her shattered the fragile silence. “Stop!” a voice boomed, sharp and undeniable. It was Alpha Fraser, and the Alpha Order held her rooted to the spot.
“You’ve never used the Order on me, Alpha Fraser,” she said flatly, her annoyance barely veiled. He only used it on kids, and she was certainly not one.
“That’s because I never had a reason to, until now. Now turn around and face me, Anna.”
She obeyed, turning to meet his gaze. She wanted to glare, but the pained expression on his face made guilt churn in her stomach. “Undo the order, Alpha. This is for the best,” she declared.
“No, it isn’t. Everyone’s been looking for you and are expecting your return,” he said firmly, walking towards her. His eyes, usually commanding, were locked on hers with a strange intensity. At arm’s length, he added, “Especially him.”
Her hands tightened on the straps, and the memory of last night’s failure, the disappointment etched on every face, flooded her. She couldn’t see his face then, but she was sure he was as let down as the rest.
Anna looked away. “I let him down. I let all of you down. I’m unfit to serve the future Alpha and I cannot protect the pack. The Goddess made it clear last night.”
