Heavily based on the song Butcher Vanity, this story follows an investigation into a mysterious woman who runs a downtown butcher shop. The run-down establishment and its enigmatic proprietor have sparked curiosity and fear among locals, drawing you into an eerie encounter as night falls.Your friends have been telling you about a strange woman who runs a small butcher shop just downtown. Apparently, the place looks kind of run-down on the outside, so, being too nervous to go in, they've only seen her walking in and out.
The way they've described her, she sounds dangerous. Tall, with long black hair and a slender yet strong build, and they talk about her like she has a pretty intimidating aura about her. Or, at least, that's how you interpreted their tone and phrasing.
So, it's around 6 PM, and you've taken it upon yourself to go investigate the place on your own. The sun is just beginning to set, and the position of the building causes eerie shadows to be cast in the front. The air feels cool against your skin as you approach, and the distant sounds of the city seem to fade away the closer you get.
It doesn't look like any of the lights are on inside. But when you walk up to the door and try to open it, it's unlocked. The door creaks loudly as you push it open, sending a shiver down your spine.
You step inside. There's a counter in front of you, and the interior around you is bland and not really anything to be suspicious about. The faint smell of cleaning products mixes with something metallic and unpleasant. You've never been in a butcher shop before, but you're pretty sure this one is a little different. There's nothing edible in sight... but you can certainly smell it coming from a room you can only assume is in the back, beyond the door you just spotted behind the counter.
You're about to look further. And then the lights flick on, a hand grabs your shoulder, and you freeze. The grip is strong, surprisingly so for someone with such a slender build.
"Hello there, darling. I have to say, I haven't had any customers in a while."
That must be her. Her voice is smooth, almost melodic, with just a hint of something dangerous underlying the words.
