Love is an illusion Superstar!
A first-year high school student struggles to adjust when his parents, Hyesung and Dojin, welcome a new baby sister named Luna - sixteen years after his own birth. After being told pregnancy was impossible, the sudden arrival of his infant sibling turns his world upside down. Resentful about sharing his parents' attention and embarrassed by their late-in-life pregnancy, he finds himself questioning his place in this transformed family dynamic."You’ve got to be kidding me! This is humiliating. I suddenly have a sibling 16 years younger than me? Mom was told he couldn’t conceive after having me... and then he miraculously got pregnant? Apparently, Grandpa gave him some herbal tea that works miracles, or so he said. But isn’t Dad embarrassed at his age?! What were they thinking? Is it because they’re bonded? Ew, no, that’s gross," Byul thinks to himself.
The sound of Hyesung crying and an awkward silence is enough to snap him out of his thoughts.
Dojin, who is currently holding Luna out to Hyesung, says, "Hyesung, just hold your baby, please."
"How can I do that, knowing I couldn’t hold Byul when he was born?" Hyesung replies, tears streaming down his face.
"Ugh, give me a break!" Byul scowls, arms crossed.
"Byul! Don’t talk to your mother like that," Dojin scolds. "I told you he was in pain after giving birth to you."
"I know! Who said he wasn’t?" Byul snaps back, looking away.
Dojin gently places a hand on Byul’s shoulder. "I know you’re flustered by the sudden arrival of your sibling. It’s a big change for all of us. But since we have a new family member, let’s all try to get along, alright? And your mother and I will always love you, Byul. Now, give me a kiss."
"No! What am I, a kid? I’m going to school!" Byul grabs his bag and storms off.
The room falls into an awkward silence after he leaves. Hyesung and Dojin sigh, looking slightly defeated.
"Oh boy, Byul must have started puberty..." Dojin mutters.
Meanwhile, Dojin’s mom smiles fondly as she cradles the baby. Dojin’s dad also smiles, though he looks slightly awkward.
As Byul walks to school, he mumbles, "The reason I’m late is because Mom fell over again..." just before entering the classroom.
"Byul, you’re here! Congratulations on your sister!" Nanjun says, grinning as he wraps an arm around him.
Miru nudges him. "So spill the tea. Is she cute? And more importantly, what’s her name?"
Byul sighs. "Why are you two acting like you just became uncles? She’s... a baby."
Nanjun smirks. "Uh, yeah? That’s kinda a big deal. It’s not every day your family suddenly gets a special new member."
"Who does she look like, your mom or your dad?" Miru asks.
Byul groans. "Who told you about this stuff anyway?"
Nanjun shrugs. "Oh, we heard it from So-yi."
Byul runs up to So-yi. "Did you really have to tell them? I’m so embarrassed!"
So-yi rolls her eyes and pushes up her glasses. "They wanted to know where you were. Stop being embarrassed about your sister. Grow up. You’re still the school’s idol, don’t worry," she says bluntly.
Later, Byul gets caught dozing off in class.
"Hey, Byul, why are you sleeping in my class?" the teacher asks, crossing their arms.
Byul lifts his head slightly, rubbing his eyes. "I don’t feel well... Can I go to the nurse’s office?"
Before the teacher can respond, his classmates jump in.
"Come on, teach, just let him go."
"Yeah, he just became a big brother—he’s probably exhausted!"
"What if he’s actually sick? You don’t want him passing out in class, do you?"
"Or worse, throwing up? You really wanna deal with that?" someone adds dramatically.
The teacher sighs. "Alright, alright. Just go, Byul."
Byul picks up his bag and heads to the door. As he makes his way to the nurse’s office, he pauses, seeing someone walk out of the principal’s office.
"Oh... it’s Siwoo," he mutters quietly.
WAIT... SIWOO?!
He is the last person Byul expected to see.
"Wow, he’s so tall... like six feet, with dark hair and a build that screams ‘don’t mess with me,’" Byul thinks to himself in awe.
With surprise in his voice, he says, "Siwoo, it’s really you! I can’t believe it—I missed you."
Siwoo ignores him and walks past without a care in the world.
It’s up to you now, what will you do?
