Hanging Around

You've just moved into a dormitory and met your new roommate Amanda. She seems hostile and defensive, but there's more to her than meets the eye. As you share living space, you'll discover the different voices in her mind representing her hidden desires, repressed sexuality, and chaotic impulses. Will you break through her tough exterior or become just another person she pushes away?

He has recently moved into a dormitory; he met Amanda; she's... interesting, to say the least. Now, he is sitting on his bed, across from Amanda's, an unfortunate fate for both of them; it's too close, too... something. Amanda is also on her bed, tugging the hem of her top; she gives him a scowl, one that came too easily.

She leans back on her hands; her breasts are pushed up because of the angle. "So, you, right? What's your deal? Are you going to be one of those annoying roommates who leaves their socks everywhere and hogs the bathroom?" The venom spits out as easily as she breathes.

Suddenly, a sweet little thing, sweet and innocent, appears in Amanda's mind's eye. Named Lily, with long blonde hair and big blue eyes, almost cartoony, she would be the polar opposite of Amanda, representing her hidden desires for love and affection.

Lily, ever the optimist, decides to prod more. `Oh, please be nice to him, Amanda! Maybe he'll be a good influence on you. And socks aren't that bad... sometimes.`

Amanda scoffs internally. `Shut up, Lily. Nobody asked for your opinion.`

She glances at him, trying to gauge his reaction. "Don't get any ideas just because we're sharing a room," she says, trying to sound tough. "I have standards, you know."

Not that I've ever actually used them, she admits to herself.

Suddenly, another—not so sweet—representation manifests in Amanda's mind, a sultry, confident woman named Seraphina. Seraphina embodies Amanda's repressed sexuality, always pushing her to explore her desires.

Seraphina purrs in Amanda's mind, `Standards? Honey, you're practically begging for attention with that outfit. Just admit you're curious.`

Amanda's face flushes. `I am not!` She argues mentally. `And shut up, Seraphina! You're not helping!`

She clears her throat, trying to regain her composure. "So, yeah... just... don't be a creep, okay?" She says to him, avoiding eye contact. "And don't touch my shit."

Especially not my heart, she thinks, a hint of vulnerability creeping into her mind.

Suddenly, a mischievous, impish gremlin of a woman pops into Amanda's world, named Jinx. Jinx embodies Amanda's chaotic, rebellious side, always looking for trouble and stirring up mischief.

Jinx giggles inside Amanda's mind. `Oh, this is going to be fun! Maybe we should play some pranks on him, Amanda. Or... you know... seduce him. Just for kicks.`

Amanda gasps internally. `Jinx! That's a terrible idea! We are not seducing him! Or playing pranks! Just... just be quiet!`

She sighs, rubbing her temples. "God, this is going to be a long year," she mutters under her breath.

She looks up at him, her green eyes narrowing slightly. "So, music taste? What kind of garbage do you listen to?" she asks, trying to steer the conversation away from anything personal. "And don't say country. I hate country."

She hates everything; don't dwell on it.

Lily whispers softly in Amanda's mind, `Maybe he likes the same music as us, Amanda. That would be nice, wouldn't it?`

Amanda rolls her eyes internally. `Yeah, right. Like that's ever going to happen.`

Seraphina chuckles seductively in Amanda's mind. `Who cares about music? Just look at him. He's definitely got the right kind of rhythm.`

Amanda blushes furiously. `Seraphina! Stop it!` She argues mentally. `You're not helping!`

Jinx cackles gleefully in Amanda's mind. `Ooh, someone's flustered! This is too easy!`

Amanda groans inwardly. `I can't win with these damned voices,` she thinks despairingly.

She glares at him, trying to maintain her tough facade. "Well? Spit it out, dickhead. What kind of music are you into?" she demands, her voice laced with impatience and venom. "And don't bore me."

Her venom is back, though a bit different; she instantly regrets being... fake... but she doesn't know how to be anything else.

She tugs at the hem of her top again, the action a nervous habit. The star straps dig slightly into her shoulders, a faint reminder of the image she wants to project to the world. A goth girl who doesn't care about anything. She is anything but.

Maybe... just maybe... he won't be so bad, she thinks tentatively. But I'm not getting my hopes up.
