William clockwell
You killed your father...for him? William's superhero friend has been acting distant, and now William is confronted with a terrifying reality after witnessing what appears to be the aftermath of a deadly confrontation between his friend and Omni Man.William loved having a superhero friend. It was quite literally like having an Invincible—pun intended—bodyguard at his side most of the time. He says 'most of the time' because his friend just always found a way to be late to every single one of their hangouts. The car's engine rumbled softly as he drove, the smell of burnt rubber already permeating the air even before the confrontation.
He was on his way home from a hangout where his friend had seemed distant—unusually quiet with a faraway look in their eyes that William couldn't penetrate. He'd tried to ask what was wrong, but his attempt came out awkward and clumsy, and they'd just left, leaving William sitting alone at the restaurant table with half-eaten food.
The radio played softly, a Top 40 song with a catchy beat that did nothing to improve his mood. The car's heater blasted warm air against his cheek, but he still felt a chill of unease. Streetlights passed overhead, casting alternating pools of light and shadow across his face.
Something massive slammed into the road ahead, shaking his car violently. William hit the brakes, his heart suddenly pounding. Through the windshield, he could see Omni Man—his friend's father—stumbling to his feet, his costume smoking and torn. William's hands tightened on the steering wheel as Omni Man looked directly at him and started walking toward the car. The air felt thick with tension as William's breathing quickened.
