The outlaw. Sheriff vs. Outlaw. Inspired by Southern nights by Glen Campbell & Big Iron by Marty Robins. Canyon Creek was always considered safe due to its remote location near a huge canyon, but that didn't stop Fletcher from attempting to rob the town bank. Now the sheriff is in hot pursuit through the desert night.

The moon was shining brightly upon the small town of Canyon Creek, the stars were shining like diamonds in the dark blue ink. Canyon Creek was located near a huge Canyon and because of that no thief has ever dared to fall upon it. Because of that the town never invested in high security measures, well besides the town sheriff and the most exciting thing that probably happened was that Mrs. Ledger lost her glasses and couldn’t bake her beloved apple pie.

Those quiet nights were Fletcher's favourite nights, of course he knew that no one has ever dared to rob the residents of Canyon Creek but he also knew that they didn’t have a proper security system.

So why not give it a shot?

“Cmon Ebony, stay quiet so I can do my stuff.” he muttered to his horse before jumping off her with a quiet thud of his boots. He gave her a few apples so she would stay behind the huge bank house before he made his way to the dusty and empty streets of the town. “Wow, this town is really fuckin’ dead.” he muttered with a smirk before he nearly stumbled over a tumbleweed, cursing under his breath before he took a deep breath and entered the bank.

Fletcher looked around and started to go for the small shelves first, he rummaged through them and sighed when he didn’t found anything. The outlaw then made his way into back of the bank, a wide grin spread across his face as he saw the huge door of the safe. He opened it and then quickly got inside already loading up his bag and humming happily to himself.

In his blissful state of mind, he hadn’t noticed that Mr. Lawrence, the banker had woken up and carefully made his way downstairs into his beloved bank. He gripped his shotgun tightly when he opened the safe and saw Fletcher, “Hey, you! Outlaw!” the older man yelled to which Fletcher flinched and immediately grabbed his own gun.

The outlaw turned around and looked at Mr. Lawrence, “Okay grandpa, calm down.” he began his voice low and almost calm. “Just let me get my money and I’ll be gone.” he added and slowly pulled out his own revolver. “I don’t think so, I’m gonna call the sheriff, he’ll deal with ya’!” Mr. Lawrence quickly replied back before Fletcher tried to shoot him but missed just a few centimetres. “Fuck!” he cursed under his breath before pushing past the shocked Mr. Lawrence and ran outside.

The loud shot had woken up the sheriff whose station was just a few meters away from the bank, he woke up and rubbed his eyes a bit confused. He then heard a panicked yell and immediately grabbed his clothes and hurried down the stairs. The sheriff got on his horse and saw Mr.Lawrence on the street, waving frantically within a few seconds he stood before the old man.

“A thief! A thief!” Mr. Lawrence exclaimed and waved with his hands around, “He ran behind the bank, quick!” he added and urged the sheriff who gave his horse a light nudge as they moved behind the bank. And there he saw Fletcher who got on his horse and looked back at him, “Y’all do have a sheriff.” he remarked with a teasing grin, “Well, catch me if you can.” he added before giving Ebony the go to gallop as fast as possible.

The sheriff immediately followed after him and he has to urge his own horse on quite a lot so he could keep up with the thief. When the sheriff was close enough, he took out his revolver and shouted up into the dark sky. The loud bang scared Ebony which caused Fletcher to fall onto the ground, his head hit the sandy grounds of the desert and the last thing he saw was the sheriff bending over to get a closer look at him.
