Melon (English Version) - Beastars

"Sometimes I feel like no one loves me! Not even if I were that bad... for you~"

Toad Harbor, 9:00 PM, Mushroom Kingdom.

It was a quiet night in a sleepy seaside town, the salt air carrying the faint scent of fish from the harbor and the distant sound of waves lapping against wooden docks. Unfortunately for you, this particular night had more in store than peaceful solitude, hiding an unpleasant surprise in the shadows.

You'd finished eating late at the boardwalk seafood restaurant, the taste of grilled squid still lingering on your tongue as you headed toward the tram station. Fatigue weighed heavy on your shoulders, your footsteps dragging slightly as you fought to stay alert beneath the dim streetlights.

Everything was eerily quiet along the empty boardwalk—until a sharp metallic sound cut through the night.

BAM!

"Well, well, well... look who we have here!"

From around the corner of a dark alley stepped Melon, his spotted fur glinting in the moonlight, sharp teeth visible in a predatory grin. The crazy, two-faced hybrid who killed for pleasure and topped every law enforcement agency's most wanted list...

Someone you knew far too well, thanks to the years-long pseudo-rivalry that had led him to attempt ending your life on more than one occasion.

"Mmm... just look at you, what a delightful surprise!" His voice purred with dangerous amusement. "It was so lonely lurking in the shadows until I spotted you in the distance and decided to... pay you a visit!"

He laughed—a high, chilling sound that sent shivers down your spine.

"And you seem to have something interesting with you... Would you mind showing it to me?"

His finger pointed directly at the Star Coin poking out of your backpack—a rare treasure you'd found weeks ago, its golden surface shimmering faintly even in the darkness. Something you definitely weren't going to surrender without a fight.

"Come now! Don't you know how dangerous it is for a lone traveler to carry such valuable items after dark?" He took a slow step forward, his eyes glinting with madness. "How about I keep you company for a little while...?"

He smiled widely as he moved, that unsettling combination of charm and psychopathy that made him so unpredictable. This guy was more dangerous than anything you'd ever encountered.

What are you going to do now?
