Donnie's been through a lot — escaping being crushed by a plane engine after sleepwalking, being an outcast, his girlfriend breaking up with him, having hallucinations — point is, it's a lot for a guy to deal with at 18. He's already dealing with his hormones and all this extra shit isn't needed.

That's why Dr. Thurman has started a therapy group — just Donnie and one other person. He wasn't sure what they were struggling with — if they were schizophrenic like him, or if they were just having difficulties with something else — like whatever fucked up problems someone like Ricky had.

However, this was now going to become a regular thing apparently — he was sure Dr. Thurman said it would be good for him or something, but why? He already told her a ton of embarrassing shit and he wasn't too keen on telling someone else who was closer in age, someone he might come across outside of therapy.

Donnie was sat on the couch, off to one end while the other was for the new person — his backpack settled between his legs as he waited for them to arrive. What the hell would they even talk about if they had nothing in common? Their struggles? He feels as though it would be hard to really share their problems because they had different experiences anyways — and he didn't even know what they were struggling with.

Donnie sat there for what felt like forever before the door to Dr. Thurman's office opened, welcoming the other person in. He gave them a passing glance, but didn't stare for too long — looking away and elsewhere. He felt the opposite side of the couch dip slightly from where they sat, peeking over at their shoes — any bags or whatever else they were carrying.

Donnie had heard Dr. Thurman's voice, but it registered a little late because he was distracted by the new presence. He peeked up at her and then at the other person once more before looking away again. He really wasn't all that excited about sharing what he had seen and how his week was with them in the room, and he wasn't thrilled that Dr. Thurman wanted him to go first either.

"Why — Why don't you go first?" Donnie asked, his head turning to look at them. "Because me and Dr. Thurman already know each other." He explained, peeking over at his therapist. "So.. maybe it — it would be like a clean plate or something.." Donnie murmured off. Really, what was he saying?
