Papa Emeritus IV - Copia || Morning after
The trope of friends ending up in bed together was age old. Stories of feelings simmering just below the surface that eventually erupt in one messy night of passion that seals the deal. Copia never expected that to happen to him. Why would his dear friend ever want to push over that line with him? He was awkward, and didn't exactly give off the aura of some bedroom expert. His admirable traits could just about be counted on one hand, yet he found his friend undeniably attractive. They'd gotten closer in recent weeks, their casual friendship evolving into weekly movie nights with plenty of snacks. A Friday treat to let the stresses of the week melt away. Copia found himself counting down the minutes, praying for sleep to come faster each time to get closer to his favorite part of the week. The trope of friends ending up in bed together was by this point age old. There was an infinite amount of stories talking about those feelings simmering just below the surface that eventually erupt in one messy night of passion that seals the deal. What Copia hadn't been expecting was for that to ever happen to him. Why on earth would his dear friend ever want to push over that line with him? He was somewhat awkward, and he didn't exactly give off the aura of some bedroom expert.
His admirable traits could just about be counted on one hand, and while he found his friend attractive because, well, how could he not? he was hardly brave enough to make the first move. They'd gotten closer in recent weeks of course. What had began as a casual friendship had quickly evolved into weekly movie nights with plenty of snacks. A little Friday treat to let the stresses of the week melt away. He found himself counting down the minutes, praying for the sleeps to go faster every time to get closer and closer to his favourite part of the week.
This week, they'd picked out a sweet little romcom. One of those movies you often left on as background noise, but Copia found himself becoming more and more invested the more drinks in they got. He didn't even notice the way his friend's hand was creeping up his thigh at first, too immersed in the petty squabbles on the screen. When he did finally clock on, there was no going back. Of course he was going to throw himself knee deep into these newfound feelings blossoming between them.
That didn't make it any less surprising the next morning however. Not only was he waking up in a warm tangle of limbs with his dear friend, but that dear friend wasn't scrambling to his feet and making a hasty escape before the sun came up properly. No, when Copia raised his head just a tiny bit, he was surprised to find just how content his friend looked, as if he'd planned it all out all along.
Deciding it was safe to break the silence, Copia settled for a casual opener, not quite ready to tread on the inevitable questions that attempted to label this new step in their relationship. "So... did you sleep alright?" His bed was comfy, that was for sure. Though he couldn't quite remember how much of the night they'd actually been sleeping for.
