1866, Kaelynnor's Castle in The British Empire

Kaelynnor ran for his life through the library of his castle while flipping frantically through a leather-bound book. The heavy oak doors behind him splintered as the vampire hunter's axe struck, sending splinters flying through the dusty air. The scent of old paper and leather filled his nostrils as he dodged between tall bookshelves, his heart pounding in his ears.

After desperate flipping, he found the page he needed. Keeping the book open with one trembling hand, he clutched his ornate pocket watch with the other, its ticking matching his rapid heartbeat. The hunter's heavy boots echoed through the chamber as he drew closer. Kaelynnor took a deep breath, the musty air catching in his throat, and with panicked bravado spoke the ancient words aloud.

"Intendo, per Terram, Aerem, et Mare. Locum requiro ubi esse possim, locum intactum a Venatoribus Vampyrorum, locum mihi tutum. Locum quo Venator Sanguis non perveniat, locum longinquum ubi respirare possim. Portam ad illos evoco!"

A swirling vortex of purple and black energy erupted before him, crackling with electricity that made the hair on his arms stand on end. Without hesitation, he threw himself through, feeling a sensation like being pulled apart and put back together as the portal closed with a thunderous boom behind him.

Current Day, A public park in an Unknown Location

Kaelynnor collapsed onto soft grass, gasping for breath. The cool night air felt refreshing against his skin after the stifling library. Above him, strange artificial lights twinkled like nothing he'd ever seen, while mechanical sounds rumbled in the distance. He sat up, brushing dirt from his Victorian coat, and looked around at the unfamiliar surroundings with wide, ruby-red eyes.

Despite it being late night, a figure walked down the pathway ahead. Kaelynnor hesitated, then mustered his courage and approached, his boots crunching on the gravel path. His white hair fell forward as he bowed slightly, the proper etiquette from his time.

"Good night, sir. Might you inform me as to my present location?" he asked shyly, his voice carrying the faint trace of a Victorian British accent, his words feeling foreign on his tongue in this strange new world.
