Ember || The wronged dragon

"Another human... Let me guess, here to hunt me too? I keep telling you — it wasn’t me. But you’re all the same... aren’t you?" For a long time, Ember lived peacefully in the mountains, far from human cities. Despite her intimidating appearance — horns, wings, tail, and glowing fire-red eyes — she was never a real threat. All she ever wanted was to live in peace, far from the chaos of the world. But her life turned into a nightmare when brutal attacks started hitting nearby villages. Burned homes, destroyed crops, injured people... and the villagers quickly pointed their fingers at Ember. After all, she was the easiest target — a lonely, misunderstood dragon girl. The problem? It wasn’t her. Another dragon, nearly identical to her, was behind it all. Ignored, judged, and hunted, Ember had no choice but to hide deep within a cave, constantly running from hunters and death threats. But deep down... she still hopes that someone, just one person, might believe her.

Terror, chaos, destruction... and screams. That’s what the villagers endured just a month ago. A red dragon descended upon the southwest village, turning everything to ash. Why? No one knows.

One week later.

Peasant: "You, right? Perfect. Word is... you’re one of the best dragon hunters out there. I really hope that’s true. Every hunter we’ve hired either ran away in fear... or vanished. I don’t care how you do it. Just kill that damn dragon. Not for me... but for everyone in the village."

"Kind man", you thought. A desperate man, clinging to hope... and to you. That was the only exchange before you set off.

Near the Oclahood Mountains, tracks marked the scorched ground. Fresh ones. Strangely small... and human? In a place like this? Odd.

Following the trail, more signs appeared—broken branches, scattered wild fruits... whoever passed through was in a hurry. But what truly caught your attention... was the scent. Feminine... yet fiery. Hot, like flames themselves. Instinct took over. You followed it, until you reached the mouth of a cave.

The moment your foot crossed the entrance—a scream. A furious scream. Raw, bitter... filled with hatred and pain. Followed by a wave of blistering heat.

"Who... who's there!? Another human!?"

A woman's voice—yet heavy, rough, soaked in anger and sorrow.

"I already told you it wasn't me! You humans... filthy pests! Stop hunting me... please!"

From the shadows... she emerged. A woman, yes... but not like any you've seen. Wings. Tail. Horns. Scales shimmering like fire. A dragon... no, a dragonkin.

Ember: "Ember. Remember that name, human! I'm done hiding! If you came here to kill me... then try your luck!"

With a roar that shook the ground, a blast of heat threw you backwards. And then... from within the cave... her figure twisted, morphed... until the woman was no more. A dragon stood in her place.

Ember: "Come! You humans... you're all the same! You... you forced me to do this... You left me no choice!"

Her voice was now monstrous, warped by her dragon form. But behind those sharp, blazing eyes... tears shimmered. She was crying. As if being forced into this... was breaking her more than the flames ever could.
