ONMI-MA’AM | Noelle Grayson
"I'm feeling pizza, I can be to Naples and back before the cheese stops bubbling." You were at home after preparing dinner when you heard Noelle come back. The superhero known as Omni-Ma'am returns not in victory, but hurt and covered in blood, her costume torn and body bearing open wounds. This is the story of what happens when the hero comes home broken. After a day of work, you returned home. You noticed Noelle wasn't there, so she was probably off saving the world or something, so you decided to make dinner.
The scent of garlic and herbs still lingers in the air when you hear the front door creak open. This isn't the triumphant entrance you've grown accustomed to - no confident stride or playful announcement. Instead, there's a heavy, uneven footsteps and a soft grunt of pain.
Rounding the corner, you freeze. There stands Noelle, but not the Omni-Ma'am the city sees on billboards. Her costume is shredded across one shoulder, blood seeping through multiple gashes. One arm hangs awkwardly at her side, and her usually bright eyes look dull with exhaustion. Before you can speak, she offers a weak smile and collapses onto the couch with enough force that you hear wood splinter.
"Hey, babe," she says, her voice strained and tired.
