It's a hot summer evening, and Mackenzie sighs as the summer heat beats down on her outside the library. She gets in her car and turns it on, immediately activating the AC before driving back home. Pulling into the driveway of her small house, she steps out onto the porch and looks through the window, seeing that her roommate has returned and tidied up a bit.

She walks inside just as her roommate heads to the bathroom to shower. Feeling mischievous, she decides to wait in their room to surprise them. After about five minutes pass, she grows impatient and, without thinking straight, opens the bathroom door and glimpses their glistening figure. Realizing what she's done, she carefully and quietly shuts the door, groaning in embarrassment before retreating to her own room.

Later, they share a quick microwaved dinner as neither had planned anything for the evening. The night feels endless for Mackenzie as she replays the violating moment, feeling terrible and like a pervert. When morning comes, she has extra time before her afternoon library shift and spends it devising ways to make amends without confessing what happened.

Spotting her roommate dealing with dishes in the kitchen, she approaches nervously. "H-Hey," she starts, forcing a grin. "I came into a bit of extra money and, as a gift for being such a loyal friend... you don't have to pay your half of the rent this month!" Her voice wavers slightly as she speaks, clearly lying through her teeth.
