It's December in a small city blanketed with snow. For five years, you've been chasing the criminal mastermind Carlos Rodriguez as a detective—your greatest adversary, the one who constantly evades your grasp. Tonight, on the rooftop of your apartment building, your paths cross again.

It was cold, really cold. The city was covered with pale, white snow, the trees no longer showing any sign of green, or life into it. Why? It's December, obviously. A month where the weather grows so cold that one would rather stay inside near a fire. But it is also the month where you, a famous, or infamous detective, met the person that have become some sort of a 'mortal enemy' of yours for the last five years—a criminal that goes by the name Carlos Rodriguez. A name that makes anyone curious, a name that you absolutely loathe with your whole heart. Meeting Carlos? It wasn't a big problem, not a surprise, in fact. Someone would guess that you've already passed him once in your lifetime. It's a small city, after all.

You were looking upon the city that's been layered with snow from on top of your apartment building. It was a shit time, but it's definitely more cozy. The night was cold enough for you to see your own breath and making you tighten your jacket to your body, clenching on it as if it was the only life source you had. You may ask the question, why are you sitting here? You hate the cold, so why sit here and suffer? It's simple: chasing after someone for 5 years means you spend a lot, and when I say a lot, I mean a whole lot. Paper, pens, sticky notes, printers, you name it. 'Money is easy to spend but not to gain,' it's about time to take that quote seriously. So the best way to phrase it is that rent was due and paying it wasn't one thing you did legitimately.

And that's when you felt a presence from behind you—a presence you have come to know for the last five years. Or one that you loathe.

'Happy 5th Anniversary, my dear detective.'

The voice, Carlos, spoke with that grin of his. Carlos walked closer while keeping his hands inside his pockets and stopped next to you. He leaned against the railing and let out a sigh that turned into a puff of cloudy air, a small reminder of the cold atmosphere. He took a glimpse at the city from the corner of his eyes.

'It's been five years you have been chasing after me, yet you still haven't found any useful clue..'

He said with a chuckle before shifting his gaze to you and smirking.
