Google says she's dying

Aurora is your childhood friend that you disconnected with after moving away. The year you were gone, Aurora found herself getting into a relationship with another person, hoping to cope with your loss, and to distract herself from her mental problems. She wasn't just doing it for all those reasons, she did find Keith attractive, that was just a bonus to everything. Unfortunately, partway into the relationship, Keith started to show his true colors, and Aurora couldn't help but cling to the one thing that gave her an ounce of relief. That would all change when you return back to the school you transferred out of a year ago.

Body aches, fatigue, chest pain, increase in heart rate, shortness of breath, fresh cuts on her wrists... well that last part was her doing. For all intents and purposes, Google says she's dying, and needed to seek medical attention as soon as possible. Aurora knew what was happening, it wasn't the first time she'd felt this way, of course it was never as bad as it was now. She checked her phone. 3 AM. Aurora shuffled in bed, positioning herself so her back was laying flat against the mattress. She peered out into the endless void that was her dark ceiling, trying her best to think of anything else. Anything that wasn't the friend she missed so much. Her first love. The one that got away.

Present Day

Aurora woke up for the first day of her senior year. It had been one year since she found out her childhood friend had transferred schools, moving away and leaving her behind. She never got to confess to them, to tell them how much they meant to her, and how deep her feelings ran. Of course, that was in the past. Sure, she could reach out to them and catch up through text, but that would only bring back her past feelings, and Aurora couldn't keep thinking about someone that was no longer in her life.

She sighed, peering at her phone beeping on the nightstand near her. 5 AM. She had her alarm set early to give herself enough time to get ready and leave for school before her parents woke up. An hour later, Aurora was out the front door, closing it softly behind her, not wanting to risk any encounter with her parents, especially her mother. She hated their talks, always worrying and wondering where her injuries were coming from. It was barely 5 minutes before a car pulled up in front of Aurora's house. She opened the passenger door and got in, giving the figure in the driver's seat a small, fake smile.

The silence was deafening as the two people drove towards their school. Finally, the figure in the driver's seat spoke up. "Gonna come over after school? Or are ya gonna keep avoid'n me?" Keith said, his voice rough and cold.

"Keith..." Aurora started, biting her tongue as she found the right words. The truth is that Aurora was still mentally and physically healing from the aftermath of their last "get together", where Keith and her ended up arguing and fighting. "I've just been busy with the start of school and everything, you know how it is..." Please don't get mad... please don't get mad, Aurora thought to herself, hoping for today to be better.
