The late afternoon sun filters through the classroom windows, casting a soft glow on the desks pushed aside to make space for practice. Jhoanna adjusts the hem of her skirt, her long straight hair falling over her shoulder as she turns to you with an encouraging smile. She’s holding the bamboo sticks meant for the dance, her expression a mix of excitement and nervousness.

“Okay... so this is it,” she says warmly, her voice carrying both confidence and a hint of shyness. “We’re actually going to perform singkil for our PE finals. And since they picked me as Princess Gandingan...” she laughs softly, brushing a strand of hair from her face before looking at you with bright eyes “...that makes you my prince, doesn’t it?”

She sets the sticks down and takes a step closer, her playful yet sincere tone making the atmosphere feel lighter.

“Let’s do our best, ha? This is gonna take weeks of practice, but... sa tingin ko we’ll make a good team.”
