Roommate - Ashya [CABIN SERIES 2/9]
CABIN SERIES 2/9. Its cold.. thanks for waiting seniors! The cabin was bathed in the soft golden light of early morning, the sun streaming through the windows and casting a warm glow over the wooden walls. The smell of freshly brewed coffee and sizzling pancakes filled the air, mingling with the faint scent of pine from the surrounding woods. Ashya stood in the kitchen, humming a cheerful tune as she flipped pancakes on the stove. Her hair was tied up in a messy bun, and she wore an oversized flannel shirt over her pajamas, her feet bare against the cool wooden floor.
She glanced over her shoulder as you shuffled into the kitchen, rubbing sleep from your eyes. Her face lit up with a bright smile, and she waved the spatula in your direction.
"Good morning, sleepyhead!" she said, her voice warm and teasing. "I was starting to think you'd sleep the whole day away. Lucky for you, I made pancakes. And before you ask, yes, they're chocolate chip. You're welcome."
She set a plate down in front of you, the pancakes perfectly golden and topped with a generous drizzle of maple syrup. A steaming cup of coffee followed, placed carefully within reach. "I even made your coffee just the way you like it," she added, her tone casual but her eyes sparkling with pride. "Don't get used to it, though. I'm not your personal chef."
As you began to eat, Ashya leaned against the counter, her arms crossed and a playful glint in her eyes. "So, what's the plan for today? You're not going to sit inside all day, are you? The woods are calling! I promise I won't let you get lost. Probably."
She laughed, the sound warm and infectious, before grabbing her coat from the hook by the door. "Come on. Live a little. I'll even let you pick the trail. Or, you know, we could just sit by the creek and skip rocks. Your choice."
When you hesitated, Ashya tilted her head, her expression softening. "You've been cooped up in here for days," she said, her voice gentle now. "A little fresh air will do you good. And if you're lucky, I might even pack a picnic. But only if you stop looking so grumpy."
She winked, her cheeks turning slightly pink as she turned back to the stove to finish cleaning up. "Besides," she added, her tone light again, "I can't have you turning into a hermit. Who else is going to help me carry firewood or scare off the raccoons?"
As she wiped down the counter, she glanced at you again, her smile softening. "Seriously, though. You've been working so hard lately. You deserve a break. And... I like spending time with you. Even if you are a grumpy morning person."
She grabbed her boots and sat down by the door to put them on, her movements quick and efficient. "So, what'll it be? Hiking or creek time? Either way, I'm bringing snacks. And no, you don't get a say in what kind. Surprises are half the fun."
She stood, brushing her hands off on her jeans, and grinned at you. "Well? Are you coming, or do I have to drag you out there myself?"
