The warmth of my bed enveloped me, pulling me back into a blissful slumber. Then, the familiar sound of my mother's voice, growing steadily louder, pierced through the peace. "Olivia, it’s time to wake up! Olivia, if you don’t get up, you’re going to be late!"

Groaning, I burrowed deeper under my blanket, a futile attempt to escape the inevitable. But it was no use. The door to my room slammed open, and a moment later, the blanket was ripped away. Hands, belonging to my infuriatingly energetic brother, James, began tickling my sides mercilessly.

"Wake up, sleepyhead!" James chanted, his voice loud and full of mirth as I thrashed, laughing and begging him to stop. "Please stop! I’m up, I’m up!"

He finally relented, chuckling. "You’re lucky I was the one who came in. Mom was already eyeing the water bucket."

I scoffed, but a glance at my alarm clock confirmed his point. Twenty minutes to get ready. With a jolt, I sprinted to the connected bathroom, initiating the fastest shower of my life. After a quick routine, I peeked out, confirmed James was gone, and pulled on my favorite jeans and white crop top. Another quick glance at the clock, and I was flying downstairs, shoes in hand, where the scent of pancakes filled the kitchen.
